A Stealth-mode AI-powered Cloud-Native Health-Tech is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer — matching either a Software Engineer or a Data Engineer profile — to build and evolve cloud-native backend services and data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.

Candidate will independently design and operate production-grade third-party API integrations, event-driven workflows, and ELT/ETL processes, owning features end-to-end from design through implementation to production.

This role requires advanced Python and SQL proficiency; the difference between the two profiles is the center of gravity.

The Business Domain revolves around providing Better Care for the US Patients; meaning, it’s about Treating Patients well. The company was founded more than five years ago. It’s not vaporware, their platform supports US Physician Networks (IPAs) by enabling Smarter, Risk-Adjusted, and more Predictive Care that improves real patient outcomes.

We prioritize Cloud-Native Architectures and Third-Party Integrations. We only occasionally use Self-Managed Solutions (e.g., GKE) when they are really required. We also avoid Fully Serverless approaches based solely on Cloud Functions or Cloud Run.

Responsibilities:

Shared (Both Profiles)

• Design and implement robust integrations with various third-party APIs.

• Contribute to and review the core web services built with FastAPI that power the platform's backend logic.

• Lead design discussions, write architecture decision records, and raise the engineering bar through code review and mentoring.

• Participate in R&D tasks, following established R&D methodologies and frameworks (hypothesis formulation, prototyping, experiment evaluation).

Option A Emphasis (Software Engineering)

• Build and evolve asynchronous Pub/Sub-driven workers and event-driven workflows.

• Harden reliability of external webhook handling, retries, and idempotent message processing.

Option B Emphasis (Data Engineering)

• Own ELT pipelines: ingestion, transformation, and delivery of operational and analytical data.

• Design and optimize analytical datasets in BigQuery; manage pipeline orchestration in Cloud Composer.

• Drive query optimization and data architecture decisions across Spanner and BigQuery.

Required experience:

Option A — Software Engineering

• Python (advanced): async/await, OOP, type-annotated code, dependency injection, testing discipline (pytest).

• SQL (upper-intermediate or better).

• Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and distributed-systems fundamentals (idempotency, retries, message-driven workflows).

• Production experience with web services and REST APIs (FastAPI or equivalent).

• Proven track record designing and operating third-party API integrations (webhooks, callbacks, vendor SDKs) — firm requirement.

• Experience with event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, Kafka, or similar).

Option B — Data Engineering

• SQL (advanced): query optimization, data modeling, analytical workloads.

• Python (upper-intermediate or better).

• Deep ELT/ETL experience: pipeline design, data architecture, data quality, backfills.

• Hands-on experience with Airflow / Cloud Composer or a comparable orchestrator — strongly preferred for this profile.

• Experience with analytical databases and data warehousing (Google BigQuery strongly preferred).

• Proven experience integrating third-party APIs as data sources/sinks — firm requirement.

Common to Both Profiles

• Python and SQL are required for either profile.

• Third-party API integration experience is a firm requirement.

• Solid understanding of the testing pyramid; practical experience with the TDD (Test-Driven Development) methodology.

• Senior-level expectations: owns features end-to-end (design → implementation → production), drives technical decisions, performs rigorous code review, mentors mid-level engineers, and troubleshoots production incidents independently.

• Comfortable in a containerized, cloud-native environment (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).

• Ведение обсуждений по вопросам проектирования, составление протоколов архитектурных решений, а также повышение уровня инженерной работы посредством рецензирования кода и наставничества.
