The company is looking for an Technical Quality Engineer to support middleware and backend integration validation. This role will focus on testing API-driven workflows, middleware rules, data transformation logic, permissions, sync behavior, and downstream system impact. The engineer will work closely with backend and middleware engineers to define validation scenarios, execute functional and technical testing, investigate failures through logs and diagnostic tools, and help build confidence in the reliability of the middleware platform.

What you’ll do

• Validate middleware and backend workflows across APIs, services, databases, and downstream systems
• Test JSON payloads, data mappings, transformation rules, sync behavior, and error handling
• Verify permissions, account-level enablement, user-level access, tenant boundaries, and API enforcement
• Create test scenarios for complex edge cases, failure modes, and high-risk data flows
• Use tools such as Claude Code, logs, dashboards, API clients, and database queries to investigate issues
• Support backend/API test automation and regression coverage
• Document test results, defects, risks, and release confidence clearly for engineering and product partners
• Participate in refinement, planning, and release readiness discussions
• Help identify quality risks early, especially around data integrity, customer impact, and operational reliability

What we’re looking for

• 4+ years of experience in quality assurance, with strong hands-on work validating backend services, middleware, APIs, integrations, and data flows
• Strong experience testing API-driven workflows, including request/response validation, payload structure, error handling, retries, status codes, and failure scenarios
• Practical experience working with JSON payloads, data mapping, transformation logic, middleware rules, and downstream system behavior
• Ability to validate end-to-end backend workflows across middleware, backend services, APIs, databases, and external/internal systems
• Strong understanding of data integrity risks, including incorrect mappings, missing data, duplicate identifiers, malformed payloads, sync failures, and downstream processing issues
• Experience validating permissions, role-based access, tenant boundaries, account-level enablement, user-level access controls, and API enforcement
• Ability to analyze complex requirements, identify edge cases, define validation scenarios, and communicate technical quality risks independently
• Experience with backend testing tools such as Postman, REST clients, API testing frameworks, logs, monitoring tools, and database queries
• Hands-on experience using diagnostic/observability tools such as CloudCard, logs, dashboards, traces, or equivalent tools to investigate failures and support root-cause analysis
• Practical test automation experience focused on backend/API validation, data validation, and regression coverage
• Experience creating structured test cases and validation plans for complex backend workflows
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams, contributing to refinement, planning, test strategy, and release readiness
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly explain validation status, technical risks, blockers, and release confidence to engineering and product partners
• High attention to detail, structured thinking, and accountability for outcomes

Nice to have

• Familiarity with middleware systems, integration layers, event-driven workflows, sync-based architectures, or rule-processing systems
• Experience with SQL or database validation to confirm data persistence, mapping accuracy, and downstream processing correctness
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and how automated backend regression tests support release readiness
• Experience testing internal tools, admin workflows, or configuration-driven systems
• Experience with AI-assisted tools to improve test design, documentation, analysis, or validation efficiency
• Mobile or web testing experience for end-to-end workflow validation, but not as the primary focus
• Experience working in regulated, high-impact, or customer-critical domains where reliability, correctness, and data integrity are important
• Comfort using artifacts such as logs, payloads, API
